ACCESSIBILITY

Built to be used by everyone

Hither aims for WCAG 2.2 at level AA across guest pages, checkout, the host workspace and the door app. Here is what that means in practice, and what we still need to fix.

On this site

  • Every page works with a keyboard, with a visible focus ring and a skip link to the content.
  • Screens are marked up with real headings, landmarks and labels, and announce changes like a basket total or a scan result.
  • Motion follows your system setting, and Plain view in the footer turns it off completely.
  • Text meets contrast rules on every colour we use, including the lime.
  • Pages work from 320 pixels wide and zoom to 400% without losing content.

At the event

  • Every event page lists step free access, hearing loops, seating and the nearest station.
  • You can filter Discover by access needs, and add yours in checkout so the door team knows before you arrive.
  • The door team can find you by name if a pass won’t scan.

Known gaps

  • The map in Discover is easier to use as a list. The list view has everything the map does.
  • A screen reader can’t read the pattern in a pass’s code. The eight character code under it can be read out, and door staff can type it in.
